How do I send you my Photographs and Music?
Sending Digital Photo Files and MP3 Music Files By Email
If you have chosen to send your Digital Photo Files (and Music MP3 Files) by Email then please Email them as Attachments to the Email Address below:
photos@photoslideshowdvds.co.uk
Images can be supplied as digital files in TIFF or
JPEG format (higher resolution the better).
You may choose to number the filenames of your Digital Photos so that the Slideshow can be
presented in your preferred order.
OR
Sending Printed Photos (or a Disk with your Digital Photos on) and Music CDs By Post
If you have chosen to send your Printed Photos (and Music on CD) to us by the Post (Snail Mail) then we will email you our Postal Address for where to Post them once we have received and checked your completed Online Order Form.
Please supply your pictures loose, not in a photo album or frame, as
this encroaches on the quality of the reproduction and may not be
accessible on the scanner. The images will be scanned and cropped, if needed.
You may choose to number your pictures so that the slideshow can be
presented in your preferred order.
Please send your Photos and Music CDs in a suitable package (jiffy
bag) with instructions. We recommend cardboard and bubblewrap and mark
your package "PLEASE DO NOT BEND". We recommend you send your pictures
by Recorded post or Special Delivery. Pictures will usually be returned
by Recorded post or other method by arrangement. We can not accept images over A4 (210mm x 290mm) in size.
What if I want to order more copies of my DVD later on?
Additional copies of your DVD, to give to friends, family and colleagues will be available for an initial three
month period at the special price of £10 each.
How long does it take?
There is a realistic turnaround of 14 days. However, we will let you
know if your work will take longer.
What about a Musical Accompaniment to your Slideshow?
A Music Track of your choice can be added for no extra charge if supplied to us by Email or by Post (taken from your original CD - not bootleg).
An average length song lasts the duration of about 50 photos and then the song will repeat.
A fee of £1 is required by us to supply the music track.
While we will endeavour to find your chosen song, this is not always
possible, so an alternative music track is always useful.
Why should I have my Photos transferred to DVD?
See our Why DVD section for lots of information on this.
Why should Photo Slideshow DVDs do my Photos transfer to DVD?
First, because unlike many other DVD Slideshow companies, we offer a complete gift package for you. Our goal is to create the highest-quality, most professional DVD possible. To enable that, we use various pieces of professional Photography equipment to process your Photos during transfer, resulting in the most accurate Photo transfer possible. We also offer our "Themes" in order to create full-color menus for you, all of which feature a photo of your choice. All of this attention provides you with a beautiful, professional DVD that can be proudly given as a gift and treasured. Visit our Why Photo Slideshow DVDs page for ten specific reasons you should pick Photo Slideshow DVDs to transfer your Photos and create a Slideshow Presentation for you.
Why should Photo Slideshow DVDs create my Photo Slideshow?
Don't be fooled: just because there are lots of inexpensive Slideshow Software programs out there, that doesn't mean you will get the professional results you want if you use one of them and don't have experience with Photo editing. A DVD photo Slideshow of this type will end up having photos running at a set length of time (such as 5 seconds each), music, and effects like fading transitions between Photos. Our Slideshows endeavor to be a professional show. Our careful attention to detail in Slideshows is simply unmatched.
How can I add music to my DVD Slideshow (or main menu) if it's Copyrighted?
If you own the CDs of the Music Tracks you want, then we can put Music from that CD onto your Slideshow DVD. Or you can pay us an extra fee to provide your chosen Music Tracks for you.
By "Photo Slideshow DVD", do you mean actual Slides?
We define a "Photo Slideshow" as photos presented on the screen, one after another, with Background Music. You might also call this a DVD Photo Collage, DVD Photo Montage, Picture DVD, or Photo DVD, it's all the same. Customers usually provide Photos to us as Prints or the actual digital Photo Files, but we can transfer Slides if that's what you need. Our term "Slideshow" does not mean that we work only with Slides.
How long should each of my Slideshows be?
That is completely up to you and depends on the number of Photos you want us to put in it. Most Slideshows run from 10-25 minutes. We generally wouldn't recommend exceeding 20-25 minutes if you're showing the Presentation at a Party (unless the Presentation is the focus of the event). But if it's a Slideshow that's just for your Family and length doesn't matter, then by all means, include as many Photos as you like.
How long is each Photo on the screen?
Since we custom-edit our Slideshows, there's no set amount of time. Generally, though, it is best for a Photo to be shown on the screen for at least 5 Seconds.
Can you create a Slideshow where the viewer can advance through each photo manually?
Yes, you can choose to have this option by specifying it in the relevant box on the Online Order Form.
Technical Questions
How long will a DVD last?
It is estimated that DVDs will last for about 100 years. And in that time, they will never lose any of their picture or audio clarity. (We do acknowledge, though, that this is an accepted guess based on scientific estimation, since DVDs have not been around for 100 years!) To help a DVD's lifespan, we recommend that you always store your DVDs in their cases and handle them carefully from their edges to avoid smudges or scratches on the surface of the disc.
Do I need to take any precautions to protect my disc?
DVD-R discs are more susceptible to scratches and dust but with careful handling will last a lifetime.
You should never touch the underside of the disc. Only hold it by the edges and the hole in the centre.
Always return it to the case after playing.
Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources eg. never leave on the window ledge.
If you have children in the house then we would strongly recommend that you either have a second copy to keep in a safe place or take out our insurance; little fingers seem to be able to get everywhere!
If you follow these simple rules then you will have no problems.
Why can't I transfer my Photos to DVD myself?
You can, and if you just want a bare-bones copy of your Photos, that might be the way to go. Photo Slideshow DVDs, by comparison, are offering a professional-quality gift item. We know how to transfer your Photos accurately, using true professional-grade Photography equipment. If you want a professional, custom-made DVD for yourself or for a Gift, or want to ensure correct Photo Preservation, Photo Slideshow DVDs is the answer.
What kind of disk do you supply?
We normally record on a disk format called DVD-R (DVD minus R) which we have found to be the most compatible with both stand alone DVD players and DVD drives in computers. We can also produce a format called DVD+R (DVD plus R) which occasionally works when DVD-R doesn't. If you would like your Slideshow to be produced on a DVD+R Disk then please let us know.
How compatible are DVD-R and DVD+R discs?
DVD-R has proved to be the most compatible, working in approximately 85% of DVD players whereas DVD+R works in approximately 70%. Neither format is 100% compatible. You would have to have your DVD commercially produced at a cost of £1000s and even when processed this way they occasionally have hiccups. Generally speaking DVD-R will work on most machines made over the last 4 years or so. If you're still unsure and want to check then Email us.
How do I know that my new DVD will work in my DVD Player?
Our DVDs will play in almost every DVD player on the market, but there are exceptions. Some older or less expensive DVD players may not be able to read our DVDs. DVD players are so inexpensive now that if you have an older or cheaper model, it may be worth it to upgrade if you are planning on having a few Photo Albums transfered.
What if when I get my DVD, it won't play?
We test all new DVDs before sending them to our clients to ensure that they are not scratched or otherwise problematic. Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds for DVDs that we have worked on for you and tested. (If there was a technical glitch in the transfer or slideshow that we didn't see that was our error, we will happily redo the disk for you.)
What is a VCD? Some services transfer video onto VCDs.
We do not offer this because VCDs are a much lower quality format than DVDs. Their pictures are very inferior because the video is compressed heavily. In addition, much less Photos fit on a VCD than a DVD. A VCD is not a DVD. Avoid transferring your precious video to VCD at all costs you will not be happy with the results!
What is NTSC? What is PAL? What are DVD regions?
NTSC and PAL are two different video standards used by countries around the World, and the two standards reflect how many horizontal lines run across a TV set to comprise the video picture. A VHS tape, DVD, or TV is either NTSC or PAL. The United States, Canada, and Japan use NTSC. Britain and many European countries use PAL. Unfortunately, the two are not interchangeable. So for example, if you got a PAL tape from your cousin in England, it would not work on your VCR and TV. We deal with NTSC only and we do not do PALNTSC conversions.
DVD regions are a similar concept. There are 8 DVD regions, created to prevent Film Piracy. The United States and Canada are in Region 1. United Kingdom is in Region 2. A Region 1 DVD player will not be able to play Region 2 DVDs. Timeless DVDs are region-free, but are NTSC format. So even though you are getting a region-free DVD that will theoretically work on a Region 2 DVD player, the DVD will not play correctly because the Region 2 player is probably hooked up to a PAL TV set. (It's so complicated!) The bottom line is that our region-free DVDs will work with DVD players and TV sets that use the PAL format.
Are the discs Region Coded?
Our discs carry no Region Code so will play on any PAL machine ie. Europe and Australia NOT the USA, Canada or Japan who use a television format called NTSC (see question above)
BUSINESS QUESTIONS:
What is the turnaround time?
It depends on the complexity of the project. Straight transfer of Photos to DVD and the creation of the Slideshow is usually two weeks. But If the Slideshow is exceptionally long with hundreds of Photos, we will discuss a timetable with you. We recommend that you allow at least 2 Weeks when ordering a Slideshow. If you are in a rush, we can work with you to accommodate your schedule, but a rush fee may be required.
Will my Photos be returned to me?
Yes, we have no interest in keeping your materials. And we always use a trackable carrier, like Royal Mail or Parcel Force, so your materials always have safe Delivery.
Will my Photos be treated as confidential?
The only people who see your Photos are those who monitor the transfer process for quality and who work with your menus and Slideshows. Your Photos are never disclosed to anyone outside of Photo Slideshow DVDs. After you receive your DVD, we erase your material from our computers. If we would like to use your material as a sample, we will ask for a written consent from you.
How do I pay for my DVD?
We accept credit card payments via PayPal.com or Nochex.co.uk (both are safe Online Payment centres (that are so widely used, they are the preferred transaction centres for Ebay). When entering PayPal, direct your payment to order@photoslideshowdvds.com
Do you provide Refunds?
The short answer is no. However, if there is a technical glitch or problem in your Slideshow that was clearly our error, we will redo the disk for you.
Do you provide References?
Because of confidentiality, we cannot provide references. But we are able to show samples of work that we've done for other consenting customers via our Photo Slideshow DVD Sample Disc. Our Sample disk enables you to see the high quality and the professionalism of our Photo Slideshows before you place your order. And check our Testimonials page, where we're proud to post comments of projects from some of our customers.
Why do we use a PO Box Address?
Our Delivery Address is through a PO Box, which ensures that your deliveries are always signed for and never sitting outside in a Letter Box, subject to extreme hot or cold temperatures. We have taken as many steps as possible to provide safe delivery for our customers, and we are proud to say that we have never lost any materials!
RECOMMENDED TIPS ON HOW TO ORDER:
1. Collect your Photos and put them in order! This is often the toughest and most time-consuming process. It helps to think of your Slideshow in sections. For example, a DVD tracing a Person's Life might have various separate Slideshows including Birth, Childhood, Teenage Years, Young Adult Years, Married years, and Senior Years. A Slideshow featuring a Couple might feature Photos of each person growing up, then Photos of their Families, then Photos of their Friends. Keep in mind that horizontal (Landscape shape) Photos will fit better on the screen than vertical (Portrait shape) Photos.
2. Slideshow Length: Pick whatever works best for the place the Slideshow will be shown. If your Slideshow will only be shown in a Person's Home, then time isn't an issue. But if you are planning to show the Photo Slideshow DVD at an Event, such as a Wedding Reception Dinner or a Birthday Party, a good rule of thumb is to keep the Slideshow about 15-20 minutes or even shorter (otherwise people get fidgety!). But if you are compiling a Slideshow that traces your Family's History since the late 1800s and includes Photos of many Family Members, your Presentation might last 2 hours! Let the project's venue or scope determine the length (your number of photos).
3. Put your Photos in Slideshow order and number the Backs of the Photos with Stickies or small Labels ; Please do not write with a Pencil, Pen, or Marker Pen directly onto the back of the Photo, as the Ink can create Distortions in the Photo's Paper or bleed through. Each Photo you give us should have a unique number: 1, 2, 3. Many of our clients find it works best to then Rubber Band the Photos together or divide them up into Envelopes this way, the Photos stay in order.
About Digital Photos: If you want to include Photos from a Digital Camera, you have two choices. One: Burn the Digital photos onto a CD or DVD for us and then post that to us; or Two: Email the Photos as Email Attachments to us at this email address: photos@photoslideshowdvds.co.uk (please remember to add your Name and Address to the Email with the Photos) Ask us if you have any questions about how to email digital photos.
4. Select Music that will play throughout the Slideshow. Each Photo is on the Screen for about 5 seconds
Thinking of your Slideshow in sections is helpful. For example, for the "Baby's Birth" Slideshow, you might include 15 Photos and select a particular Song to play while those Photos are shown on Screen. The next section with Photos of the Baby becoming a Toddler might include 30 Photos and feature a second Song. Our editing services will take into account your instructions and we will craft a professional Slideshow around your Photo order and Music Selections.
5. Select a Theme for your DVD. Browse through our Themes Gallery online. Each of our Themes includes a main menu, that accommodate one of your photos.
6. Fill out the Photo Slideshow DVD Online Order Form, which is available on the Order Page of the Website. (Just ask us if you would like us to send you a printed copy.) If you need help, just let us know.
7. Post or Email your Photos and Music (on CD or MP3 file format). If you are Posting your items, we will email you our Postal Address after we have received your Completed Online Order Form. We ask that if you post your materials, please use a trackable carrier like Royal Mail or Parcel Force for safe Delivery.
Please note that you must pay for your order in full before production can begin. You may pay by Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or Discover) using the secure and safe online payment services called Paypal.com or Nochex.com
8. We'll E-mail you to let you know that your Photos, etc were received. (As, we know how nerve-wracking it is to put your items in the Post these days!) Then we'll get to work. If your order form raises a question, we'll be back in touch. Turnaround is 2 Weeks for a Photo Slideshow DVD. If a Slideshow is exceptionally lengthy, we may contact you to discuss a Timetable.
If you need the Slideshow to be completed in less than 2 Weeks, a rush fee will be required and depending on the length of your Slideshow, may not be possible.
9. When it's finished, we'll mail your Photo Slideshow DVD and all original materials back to you! (Trackable, of course.)

Check around...other DVD services mention turnaround times as long as 2 months! We can also do rush jobs in less than 2 weeks; just ask.
7. Easy ordering. Some services have lists and lists of options and costs. We have distilled our services down to the most necessary items music, menus. Transferring your Photos shouldn't be a Headache! We make it easy and fun to preserve Photos and create a Photo DVD Presentation. But if you do have any questions, we're always here to answer them.
8. Fair prices. We'll be honest and say that we are not the cheapest DVD Slideshow service. But we are not the most expensive either. If you check around, you'll see that prices for DVD Slideshows range from £5 to £250! We offer a fair price for an exceptional level of quality and professionalism. We are focused on creating a beautiful DVD that you can give as a Gift or archive as a keepsake, not a bargain-basement transfer on a generic-brand DVD that is housed in an easily breakable CD case. Please remember that you get what you pay for with a DVD slideshow service. Our Customers are looking for a quality transfer in a professional package, not the lowest prices.
Why use the DVD format?
Preservation
Fact: videotapes of all kinds degrade. This is because the magnetic coating that contains the video and audio loses its bond to the plastic tape. This happens over time as well as after several viewings. Tapes can deteriorate noticeably after only a few times through your VHS player! Videotapes were just not meant for long-term storage.
Maybe you have already noticed problems with your Photos: Fadedness on your once-sharp Spain Holiday Photos; , or lines across the picture. These problems will only get worse, and your precious Photos will one day be unviewable. We've seen Photos that have gone completely black - and so those precious Photo Memories are gone forever.
By contrast, DVDs are digital. They can last for over 100 years without losing any quality. And unlike Photos, you can make numerous copies of them, and every copy will be exactly the same, with no loss in quality so they're great for sharing copies with friends and family. When you preserve video on a DVD, you are guaranteed of having a long-lasting copy of your home movie for an indefinite period of time.
Convenience
Like CDs, you never have to rewind a DVD. Plus, you can easily find the correct spot on the DVD that you want to watch. You can have a Slideshow Menu that lists the important parts, like Cutting the Cake or Tossing the Bouquet.
Also, a DVD can just be inserted into your DVD player and watched. Most Families' Photos are shut away in boxes in the attic. (What a pain!) As a result of this hassle, many people don't look at their own Photos! Transferring your Photos brings your Photos back to your family so they can easily be viewed and cherished.
Quality
If you're already familiar with DVDs, then chances are you know how beautiful DVDs look and sound. When we create a photo DVD presentation for you, your photos will look sharp and clear on screen because of DVD quality.
Plus, as we mentioned above, DVDs do not lose quality every time they play. And you can make copies of them, with each copy looking exactly the same making it simple to order perfect copies for Family Members. No dubbing quality loss.
Size
DVDs are the same size as CDs: small, slim, light, and easy to store. You can keep them in the DVD case we provide, or put them in a padded CD/DVD wallet if you're running out of room. They take up much less space and weigh far less than Photo Albums.
Some customers even order two copies of each Photo Slideshow DVDs they order; one to have at home to watch, and one to store safely in a safety-deposit box at the bank or in a safe. This is truly the best way to completely preserve your Family's Photos.

We can transfer your Wedding Photos to DVD for your Husband or Wife. We can add a Start Menu Screen with separately titled Slideshows for the The Ceremony, The Kiss, The Reception, The Meal, The Best Man's speech, The First Dance, and The Bouquet Toss. .
Is your Parents' Anniversary coming up? Borrow their Wedding Photo Album and preserve their Photos on DVD. You can even add their favourite Songs! They can watch the DVD of their Wedding Photos on their TV, or you can show it to everyone at a Party! An Anniversary DVD is great at the time of the Anniversary and will be watched many times afterwards.
Of course your new Baby is the cutest on the Planet! Have the first few weeks of Baby Photos transferred as a great Slideshow DVD and send copies of the DVD to Family and Friends. The DVD Menu can display an adorable Photo of your Baby. This DVD also makes a great keepsake for your Child as he or she grows up. And this "First Birthday DVD" will be watched forever.
Kids usually provide the biggest library of Family Home Photos, from Birthday Parties to School Concerts to Football Games. We can transfer any Photos of your child's event to DVD, custom-made with his or her photo and favourite Music on the Slideshow. It's a great way to save the sights and sounds of a special event.
Another idea for kids: create a tribute video DVD for each of your children: a DVD for Emily with her birth, big Football win, and Graduation photos; a DVD for Ryan with his First Steps, Cricket game, and University Graduation; and a DVD for Hannah with her third Birthday Party, and School Play. These "Growing Up" DVDs make a perfect gift for kids who are turning 18 or graduating from University.
Got a special Grandparent? An excellent Gift for senior citizens is putting the photos of their life onto a DVD. You could start with Photos of childhood and go up to the present, using your relative's favorite music in the background. This Photo Slideshow can either be shown on a home Television or on a screen at a special Birthday Party. Your favorite senior will watch this "personal genealogy DVD" for years, and show it off to many friends!
Got a special someone? DVDs of a "couple's history" are sweet and thoughtful anytime but they're a great Valentine's or Anniversary Gift! Collect your Photos of you as a couple (and "your" Songs!) and give the DVD to that special someone. (This can also make an excellent Presentation at a Wedding or Anniversary Party!) An Anniversary DVD is also great to compile each year, or every 5 years; create a record of your marriage together.
Weddings are great places to show a Wedding DVD; in particular, the Wedding Reception Dinner Slideshow is becoming especially popular. Many couples are choosing to show Presentations featuring photos of themselves and their families (and Bridal Party Members) during Wedding Reception Dinners. This special Presentation really gets the tears flowing among close family and friends! Often, these Slideshows are ordered by Parents, Bridesmaids, or Grooms to surprise the happy couple. The Reception is also a great place to show this Slideshow.
A great activity for a Family is creating a "Genealogy Video DVD" together. Essentially an audio-visual Family Tree, this is a DVD that traces your Family's history, from the earliest Photos you have of Relatives to the youngest members of your Family. A Family History DVD is an fantastic Heirloom that will preserve your Family's tales and Photos for generations. Some families split the cost and create an extensive DVD by involving many members of their extended Family in the project. It's also a great Presentation to show at Family Reunions.
Reunion sponsors (such as those for a High School ten-year-reunion or Armed Forces Reunion) can have a great Fundraiser by having graduates pre-order a Commemorative DVD of the event. After the Reunion, just send your photos to us, and we'll create a DVD (as many as you need) that you can send to all the Graduates who ordered copies. We offer discount rates on large quantities of DVDs for this exact purpose! Reunions are also a great place to show a Photo Slideshow on a big Screen that shows Photos of the participants as they were years ago it becomes a tribute video for a large group of people.
School Groups, Dance Schools, and local Sports Groups often provide Events that proud Parents photograph. These Photos are usually highly prized by Families and viewed repeatedly, but often are not preserved for the future before they tear or degrade. From championship Little League Games to Choir Concerts, School Musicals to each yearly School Concert, there are many wallets of Photos that Parents have in boxes. A DVD of these Events becomes a perfect Gift for active Kids to appreciate.
And it bears repeating that most people have many Photos of special events that should be transferred to DVD to preserve them. These might include Bar Mitzvahs, Wedding, and University Graduation Ceremonies . Perhaps more than any other Photos you have, these milestone events should be preserved onto a long-lasting DVD. This makes a wonderful, long-lasting, long-remembered Present.
Do you have any ideas for a DVD gift? Any concerns about transferring your Wedding Photos?, How to create a Birthday DVD or Anniversary DVD, Tribute Video or Wedding Reception Dinner Slideshow? Just e-mail us with any questions at customerservice@photoslideshowdvds.co.uk
